Ritchey was founded, back in the 1970’s, by Tom Ritchey, a self-taught bicycle repairer and a former pro cyclist. Since then, he has never stopped to design and to produce not only road bike frames and components but also adventure, mountain and cross ones and he stilll is the president and lead designer of the company which is now based in San Carlo, California. Tom rode for Team USA’s Junior Worlds road racing squad, and then enjoyed a stint on the US National Road Team. In 1976, Ritchey retired from road racing. He continued to race mountain bikes through the early 80’s.
The company strives to produce designs which are at least twice the standards established by CEN (the European Committee which determines minimum safety standards for bicycles and components sold in Europe) in order to meet the highest standards and offer to its customers and pro riders high quality and safe bicycle components. The company is well-known for its attention to detail during the product design phase, combined with rigorous fatigue testing. Ritchey Design offers complete bikes, framesets and bicycle components including: pedals, carbon wheels, carbon forks, saddles, stems, handlebar and seatposts and tires suitable both for professional racers and weekend cyclists.
Ritchey is proud to support pro cyclist to the highest levels but also the bicycle enthusiasts who ride only for the experience of it.
